I’ve combed through countless hot tools, dental devices, and skin care gadgets to find the best Prime Day beauty deals. If you have a sensitive scalp like me, the Shark SpeedStyle Pro Flex is worth the investment. Shark’s Scalp Shield feature monitors heat 1,000 times a second to ensure it never exceeds 230 degrees Fahrenheit. It comes with four versatile attachments à la Dyson, and it’s surprisingly light (1.57 pounds). Plus, it folds up for easy travel or storage. I’ve tested the Dyson Airwrap, and this gets you there for way less cash.

The Best Blow-Dry Brush

Featured in our guide to the Best Blow-Dry Brushes, the Drybar Double Shot has three heat levels, reaching 275 degrees Fahrenheit at the top end, but it manages to not leave hair feeling fried. When testing, we got great hair results just using Drybar’s simpler settings compared to brushes with more options. The Double Shot made our reviewer’s hair nice and smooth while giving it volume, and managed to give less frizz than other models.

A Budget Blow-Dry Brush

We’ve tested a lot of blow-dry brushes, but the Revlon One-Step Volumizer Plus (8/10, WIRED Recommends) wins on value. It dries and styles at once, with a slimmer, 2-inch oval barrel that’s detachable and easier to handle than the original. The ceramic titanium tourmaline coating cuts down on heat damage, and four settings (plus a cool shot) give you all the control you need. At $46 (down from $70), it’s a steal.

An Affordable Upgrade

The Chi Volume Styler is a blow-dry brush that has a cool addition to it: a heated comb side to help style your hair and tame flyaways that could be caused by the hot hair blowing your hair around. It’s a good tool that nicely dupes the expensive GHD Duet Blow Dry (8/10, WIRED Recommends), especially for such a lower price point. And even cheaper now on sale!

Our Favorite Budget Hair Straightener

As seen in our Best Hair Straighteners guide, Conair’s Infinity Pro is the best hair straightener you’re likely to find for under 20 bucks. It not only heats all the way up to 455 degrees Fahrenheit, the little dial on the side offers a mind-boggling 30 set temperature points, so you can be sure to find the one that works for your hair.

A New Twist On an Old Favorite

If you liked the OG Chi straightening iron, a staple on many a counter since 2006 (and for sale itself at 50% off), you might consider upgrading to Chi’s G2—or “generation 2″—while it’s still on sale. It’s got a new digital screen, a chime that tells you when it’s heated up, and titanium-infused plates for more straightening power. (Max heat is 425 degrees Fahrenheit.) If you want a blowout look without needing wet hair, a thermal brush is for you. It doesn’t smell great, I’ll admit, but its frizz-fighting and shine-imparting power are comparable to brands three times the price, like Oribe. A little goes a very long way—I’ve had my current jar for three years—and the formula is thick, but melts down quickly. This luscious treatment is flavored and scented, but not tinted.
