Aiming to address the growing issue of AI bots, Razer, a technology company that produces lifestyle brands for gaming, inked a partnership with the blockchain project World, which is formerly known as Worldcoin, to introduce a blockchain-based verification system that ensures only human players participate in online games.

The Initiative

Through the collaboration, the gaming firm is set to launch “Razer ID Verified by World ID,” a new single sign-on feature that uses World’s blockchain-based proof-of-humanity technology to verify real human gamers.

This new feature is expected to help developers create human-only gaming environments and prevent AI bots from disrupting fair play.

According to the entities involved, the initiative aims to restore competitiveness and trust in online games, referencing a study by Echelon Insights that found 59% of gamers frequently encounter unauthorized bots, which create unfair advantages and diminish gaming enjoyment.

Moreover, they assured that all verification data is decentralized and securely encrypted using blockchain technology.

“As AI continues to reshape the gaming world, we want to empower gamers and game developers with the tools they need to navigate this transformation safely and confidently… By teaming up with World, we’re ensuring that real players are the heart of every experience, keeping gaming fair, immersive, and designed for humans.”

Starting the launch, Razer ID Verified by World ID will be embedded into Razer’s existing login system. This means that soon, players will need to verify their identity before accessing the supported games and services of the gaming firm.

In addition, a verified Razer ID will be usable across Razer’s game payment services, rewards system, and other products.

Proof-of-Humanity Verification

Meanwhile, for the verification process, players can verify their identity through World’s blockchain-based proof-of-personhood technology. They visit a World verification center, known as Orbs, to scan their irises.

Gaming Applications

On the other hand, Razer stressed that it welcomes game developers to integrate the verification system to prevent AI bots from accessing games.

As of this writing, the first and only known game to implement Razer ID Verified by World ID is Tokyo Beast, a web3 game built on Ethereum’s Immutable platform.

“Game developers now have a tool to build dynamic spaces where real players—not bots—dominate the digital landscape.”

What is World?

Founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, World is a blockchain-based project focused on creating a secure digital identity system. It uses iris biometrics via the Orb device to generate a unique World ID, enabling secure online interactions.

In Bulacan, Philippines, the firm has been reported to have ongoing iris scanning and verification activities where users receive $WLD upon verification and can earn more by referring others to join.
