RLUSD Could Supercharge XRP Growth—Expert Explains How it Unlocks 1000X Potential

  • Austin King recently took to X to emphasize that those viewing RLUSD solely as a stablecoin play are vastly underestimating the scale by more than 1,000x.
  • XRP is creating a self-sustaining ecosystem where asset tokenization drives continuous growth, with Omni Network enabling their movement across the on-chain economy.

Austin King, co-founder of Omni Network ($OMNI), has outlined a strategy for XRP’s future growth, highlighting Ripple’s ability to bring trillions of dollars from traditional finance onto the XRP Ledger. In a detailed thread on X on January 31, King explained how RLUSD has the potential to drive XRP’s value exponentially by 1000X.

RLUSD: The Catalyst for XRP’s Expansion

As we reported, Ripple introduced RLUSD on December 17, 2024, and within weeks, its impact has been massive. Daily trading volumes for RLUSD now exceed $300 million, and by January 23, the stablecoin had already recorded $2.84 trillion in trading volume. Notably, on January 4, RLUSD hit its peak trading day at $400 million.

Several major exchanges, including Bitstamp ($398M in RLUSD trades), Independent Reserve, Bitso, and Mercado Bitcoin, have already listed RLUSD, increasing its accessibility and adoption across markets.

King emphasized that Ripple’s vision goes far beyond just a stablecoin, with current developments being “just the tip of the iceberg.” He explained that XRP Ledger is the foundation for tokenizing real-world assets (RWAs), attracting institutional capital. With transaction finality in 3-5 seconds at low costs, XRPL is ideal for large-scale tokenization. It also offers native liquidity pools and order books, providing developers with seamless access to liquidity at the protocol layer for more efficient applications.

The Four-Stage Plan for Tokenizing Trillions on XRP

According to King, Ripple is executing a step-by-step strategy to onboard traditional finance into the on-chain economy. The first step is proving the feasibility of asset tokenization with RLUSD, which has already demonstrated massive adoption and trading volume. Building on this success, the next phase focuses on low-risk tokenized assets, particularly U.S. Treasury bills, to attract institutional participation. Notably, Ondo Finance recently announced plans to bring its $185 million U.S. Treasury token to the XRP Ledger.

Once trust in the system is established, Ripple will expand tokenization to corporate bonds, equities, and other financial instruments, unlocking tens of trillions of dollars in value. The final stage is the tokenization of the derivatives market, a sector worth hundreds of trillions of dollars globally, positioning XRP as the foundation for institutional finance in the on-chain economy.

King envisions this strategy triggering a self-reinforcing flywheel effect that will rapidly accelerate XRP’s adoption. As XRP continues to tokenize more assets, the Omni Network ($OMNI) will distribute these assets across the on-chain economy, attracting even more institutions to participate. This compounding cycle of growth is what King describes as a 1,000X opportunity, one that could unfold much sooner than anticipated.

In addition to the RLUSD surge, Ripple is making strides in regulatory compliance and DeFi infrastructure. As mentioned in a previous report, the XRP Ledger recently implemented the AMMClawback amendment, adding a layer of asset control to its Automated Market Maker (AMM) system. Analysts have called this a game-changer for XRPL DeFi, signaling the start of deep liquidity formation on the DEX.

However, despite these advancements, XRP’s price has dropped by 17% in the last 24 hours and 14.08% over the past week, now trading at $2.39.
